How To Draw A Toucan

For today’s tutorial, we will be learning how to draw a toucan. A little known fact about me, Toucans are my favorite bird. I don’t know if it is because of their comically huge beaks, or because they’re so colorful, but I just can’t help but love them.

Let’s get started!

To get our toucan started, we will first need to draw a large oval which will become its body. To the upper left of that oval, draw another half circle attached, which will become a place marker for the bird’s head.

Give your toucan a large bill. This bill should be about as long as the toucan’s entire body.

Give your toucan the beginnings of two legs, and draw in a branch for him to stand on.

Expanding on the beginning legs you drew in the previous step, draw two toes on each of your toucan’s feet.

Follow the line shown in red on the left to draw the outline of your toucan’s wing.

Now we need to give our toucan a squared off tail, which should be about the same length as its wing.

Very close to your toucan’s beak, draw a nearly perfectly circular eye, and a line that starts just above its eye, and continues to wrap down to the bottom of the bird’s body.

At this point our toucan is just about complete. All that’s left to do is to give the beak a little bit of a design, and add a few feather details to the bird’s wing.

That’s that! If you’ve enjoyed this tutorial, don’t forget to comment and share it with your friends!
